Our team
EDENT1FI is a global collaboration between 27 partners in 13 countries from academia, industry and patient organizations, bringing their knowledge and experience together with one common goal: „To arrest type 1 diabetes at the pre-clinical phase“. This 5-year Horizon Europe project is coordinated by the team of Prof. Chantal Mathieu of the KU Leuven (Belgium) and co-coordinated by the team of Prof. Anette G. Ziegler of the Helmholtz Munich (Germany).
Our ambition
At EDENT1FI, we are working to revolutionize how we tackle Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) in European children. By using specific markers, our goals include finding T1D early, managing it before symptoms appear, developing new treatments, refining how we detect it, and raising awareness. Our overarching mission is to make a meaningful impact on understanding, caring for, and preventing T1D through widespread screening and collaboration.
Our objectives
Identify T1D before hyperglycemia onset through population screening.
Develop strategies for preventive and disease-modifying therapies.
Enhance validated biomarkers for early T1D progression and refine their use.
Inform the public, healthcare professionals, and authorities about new T1D paradigms.
Manage presymptomatic T1D to lessen disease impact at clinical diagnosis.
In essence, EDENT1FI aims to revolutionize T1D diagnosis, care, and prevention through comprehensive screening and collaborative efforts.
